WNC Gleaning Network

We’re participants of a good project to help end hunger in our County. WNC Gleaning Network salvages good, fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste and then gives them, free of charge, to people who are hungry. They do this two ways. First, when a grower has a field that he/she has finished harvesting but there is still good produce remaining, we can bring in volunteers to pick (or glean) what’s left. The volunteers then distribute the food to individuals who are hungry and/or to agencies that assist people in need. The second way is to accept produce that has already been harvested but can’t be sold for various reasons.
